Lilac: Is something wrong?

Cumulus: Well, I, uh, don’t know. Hey, uh, can you give me a ride to the airport tonight?

Lilac: Wasn’t Rosemary taking you?

Cumulus: Um, yeah, but she has a terrible headache and I don’t want her driving by herself.

Lilac: Oh, well then. I guess I can. My shift is off soon so I could take you.

Cumulus: Thank you.

Rosemary: And after all this time, I still have feelings for her. I could almost say truly that I love her. But we aren’t dating now, so I would have to confess to her all over again. But I can’t.

Cumulus: Why not? You’ve done it before; I’m sure you can do it again.

Rosemary: Well, I can’t because…

Rosemary: Well, I didn’t lie to you, but I didn’t say the whole extent of Lilac and my story.

Cumulus: Well?

Rosemary: A couple of years ago, when Lilac and I were friends and were living in Berry Springs with our families, we had, well, feelings for each other. So we started dating.

Cumulus: I knew you guys liked each other! Why did you stop dating?

Rosemary: Well, I didn’t lie about our parents not liking us for dating someone that wasn’t of our own color, so after they took our puppy away, Lilac and I ran to Waffle Creek so we weren’t persecuted for our relationship. But after the whole ordeal, we decided we should stay friends for a while so we could settle.
